Githead News - 11.11.05

Dear Githead Fan

Welcome to the 4th edition of our newsletter, new bunnies and old lags alike will find within this slim piece of eye candy news, views and gossip direct from Git-HQ.

We are quietly slipping in new content to the downloads section of the site. There is now a video of "My LCA" (directed by Malka) for streaming & download also new wallpapers (actually bearing the correct URL!!) and MP3 are waiting your attention. Keep your eyes peeled also for further MP3s & videos.

The gallery has also received a makeover to accommodate the huge number of pictures from the recent European tour including , of course the many by the now (almost) legendary nightly "audience photographer", a '"responsible looking" person selected at random from the audience to document proceedings with Colin's camera. Many thanks to all those embarrassed (and not so embarrassed!) individuals who have aided Githead in their quest for forensically extensive documentation. We are still receiving submissions of images. If you have some you want to post to us on CD then you can find a postal address here.

Githead is making available through PosteEverything, for the first time ever and in perilously limited quantities, the official Githead T-shirt a fashionably black shirt tastefully emblazoned with the band's trademark 'GIT -' logo, in CMYK yellow & RGB red, BUT it's also the band's official stage wear , as elegantly modelled on their recent European outing. Get it HERE .

In addition we are thinking of running a competition for the most imaginative piece of "head replacement whilst wearing a git- shirt" as delightfully illustrated by our Duncan from posteverything (see the illustration here ). No Photoshop cut & paste involved, just pure perspective! Can you do better? If we get enough responses to make it a competition then we'd be prepared to cook up a decent prize. Otherwise it'll have to go to Duncan!

We are sure that all Githead fans are big fans of music in general and so last.fm may not be news to you BUT if it is then you have a treat in store. Last.fm is a kind of radio station that plays music you like based on what other people who like what you like also listen to. It gathers information based on what you listen to on your computer and even your iPod and builds a profile linking you to others who have similar taste. Of course every artist has a page (Githead's is at last.fm/music/Githead ) and previews are available. You can also listen to artists who Last.fm's listeners think sound like Githead!

Due to circumstances beyond our control the planned gig in Rome has been cancelled. Meanwhile we are currently engaged in sorting some North American dates for next year. As always subscribers will be the first to know the details.

Many thanks to everyone who turned out on our recent European tour. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. One of the gig reviews (Dublin) made it to Brainwashed. You can find it here . Githead would also like to personally thank everyone who helped document the tour in both picture & video - Gregor Mussa (various),Yossi Ben Gigi (Tel Aviv), Arne Wojciechowski (Cologne), James Baker and Fergus Kelly (Dublin), Mark Pitts and Carlo & Paula (London) as well as all the "audience photographers" who we don't know the names of yet...

Lastly, We had to hurriedly move the githead.com site a month back because the hosting company we were using went out of business, this resulted in a few days outage. Now we are safely hosted once more but the new hosting offers different functionality and we experimented last week with using their "e.mail marketing plan" to deliver this newsletter. Unfortunately we discovered that in order to get this to work the entire mailing list (that's you lot :) would have to sign up again on receipt of a rather anonymous e.mail that frankly looked like spam! Anyone that noticed that they got this and tried to reply may well have received a note that this wasn't working. That's because as soon as we realised what was going on we ditched that plan and reverted to a simpler scheme. All that basically means that if you've subscribed by the site, you stay subscribed until you tell us you don't want to be....

Dear Githead Fan

Welcome to the third edition of our newsletter, something which appears to be coming out with alarming regularity. Surely there can't be more things to say??? It appears there are!

Firstly - a small but significant change - from githead.co.uk to githead.com - The old addresses still work but the site will now resolve to it's githead.com variant whichever address you put in. If you have linked pages to us in the past, please make sure you update them so we can quickly regain premier status on the google listings.

If resetting your bookmark has prompted a trip to the site then you will also be greeted with the big news is that there is going to be a Githead tour in September. While these mere 9 dates may not challenge the earth-striding extravaganzas of others they do represent a significant step for Githead as in a 2 week span we will have more than doubled our gig tally (currently 7)!!
The dates are - Read more.
